Leadville + Breck Epic in 2025

What have I got planned for 2025?!?! Well, I entered the Leadville 100 MTB race lottery. Leadville is a 105 mile race with about 12,000 feet of climbing. My name got drawn and my first reaction was, oh crap, when will I be able to use this lottery entry because I was already planning on doing the Breck Epic which starts on the very next day after Leadville in August. The Breck Epic is a pretty gnarly 6 day stage race with about 240 miles and 40k feet of climbing. I had a ton of fun at this race last summer and I can’t imagine missing it in order to do Leadville.
I asked my coach, Mike Durner, if doing Leadville and Breck Epic in the same year was a move reserved for world class riders like Howard Grotts and Keegan Swenson. He said it’s possible to train for that combo with lots of volume and a bit of luck so that’s the plan!
I want to get in the habit of regularly documenting my progress towards that goal here and talk about how training is going, diet, bikes, equipment, racing strategies, fueling strategies, and the races that I have along the way. So, stay tuned!
