About

My name is Ben Steger and mountain biking has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. What started as a fun way to explore trails gradually turned into a deeper passion for pushing myself—riding longer, tackling harder terrain, and eventually stepping into racing. After a few years of casual competition, I decided in the spring of 2024 to fully commit to training and racing to see how far I can go.
My focus is on endurance mountain bike racing, where long miles and tough climbs are just as much a mental challenge as a physical one. I’m still figuring things out, learning from every race, and working to get stronger and smarter on the bike. Some days that means feeling fast and dialed in; other days, it means barely hanging on. Either way, the process is what keeps me coming back.
Big goal for 2025: I’m taking on Leadville 100 and the Breck Epic, back-to-back. Leadville is a legendary 100-mile race at high altitude, and the Breck Epic? It starts the very next day—a six-day stage race in the Colorado mountains. It’s a huge challenge, and I don’t know exactly how it’ll go, but that’s part of what makes it exciting.
I’ll be sharing my progress here—training, race recaps, lessons learned, and the inevitable highs and lows along the way. If you’re into endurance racing, mountain biking, or just curious about what goes into these kinds of events, stick around!
